CONSTANCE LAKE

FIRST NATION LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

ABOUT US

Land Acknowledgment

Constance Lake First Nation is located within our ancestral and traditional territory, which spans the Kenogami Watershed, also known as the Arctic Watershed.
We hold a deep and unbroken connection to these lands and waters, and to all living beings that share this territory with us. This is the homeland of our Cree, Ojibway, and Oji-Cree ancestors, whose presence here since time immemorial continues to guide how we live and care for one another.
In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, we honour our responsibility as caretakers of this land. Every decision we make as a government, as a community, and as individuals reflects our respect for the natural world, our cultural teachings, and the rights handed down to us by our ancestors.

ABOUT US

Land Acknowledgment

We respectfully acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples who have cared for this land since time immemorial.

We recognize the deep history, culture, and ongoing contributions of Indigenous communities, and we honor their enduring relationship with the land, waters, and all living beings.

This acknowledgment is a small step toward truth and reconciliation. We commit ourselves to learning, listening, and building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples, and to supporting initiatives that contribute to healing, equity, and justice.

We invite all who engage with us to join in recognizing the importance of this land, its original stewards, and the responsibility we all share in protecting it for future generations.
