Our History

For generations, the people of Constance Lake First Nation have lived, worked, and thrived along the Kenogami Watershed, also known as the Arctic Watershed. Our ancestors traveled the rivers and lakes that sustained our families, provided food and resources, and shaped who we are as a people.
These waterways — Kenogami, Kabinakagami, Nagagami, Pagwachuan, Albany, and Shekak — have always been our lifelines. They connect us to one another and to the lands that have nourished generations through hunting, fishing, trapping, and harvesting.
Our Elders speak of the land as a living relative, one that teaches us balance, respect, and gratitude. The rivers were once our highways, where trade and kinship flourished. Through oral histories, traditional knowledge, and the guidance of our Elders, we continue to honour those who came before us and the legacy they built.
Today, we carry forward the spirit of our ancestors. We protect our lands, preserve our knowledge, and work together to ensure our people remain strong, united, and self-determined for generations to come.
